TARANAKI BULL FAIR. Per Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 3. At the bull fair, at which 125 head were sold of 142 offered, tho top price was 80 gns. Total realisations wore £IBOO, the average per head being £l4 10s. There was an attendance of 120 buyers, representative of most North Island districts. Mr W. Lovell, of Tongaporutu, paid 80 guineas for tho yearling Everest Beauty’s Knight (by Pinowood’s Gold King from Reta’s Beauty), sold by Mr T. W. Pearger. This bull’s breeding is outstanding. AUCKLAND MARKETS. CANADIAN ONIONS REACH AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Oct. 3. Local millers have notified an increase of 10s a ton in the price of pollard, which now stands at £6 10s at the mill. Merchants arc still quoting Australian at £7, but supplies are dwindling, as the market across the Tasman Sea has been very firm of late, and quotations have been too high for fresh ordering. The demand continues good, but it may bo affected, in future by a new competitor in tho shape of wheat-meal, which is available at £7 to £7 5s a ton. The wheat market is steady, with a good demand, in which ungraded lines take a big share of business. The potato market is steady, with last week’s prices at £5 15s to £6 a ion maintained. The notable event of the week has been the arrival of the first substantial shipment this season of Canadian onions. About 3000 bags came to hand, and these are being freely dealt in at 14s 6d to 15s per 1001 b bag. LOWER SUPPLIES OF TIN. LONDON, Oct. 2.
