ADDINGTON SALE. FAT CATTLE FIRM. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct.. 4. Values for fat sheep and fat lambs fell at Addington to-day, both sections attracting heavy entries. Store sheep.—A very small entry and a poor selection comprising mainly aged owes with lambs. Prices were about on a par with last week. Values were: Good ewe hoggets, to 17s 7d; medium owes and lambs (all counted), to 12s Id; ordinary, 7s to 9s; ordinary wethers, 13s 9d to 15s 6d. Spring lambs. —An entry of 340, with with the quality mixed. Prices wero 2s to 3s down. 'The average prico was 8d to 9d and the top price 27s Id. Fat sheep.-—An entry of 3700, the quality being generally poor, with consignments from the North Island as well as Southland. Only tho best mot a good demand, and these wore distinctly cheaper, while others were a full 2s easier. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 36s 7d; prime heavy, 30s to 345; medium weight prime, 26s 6d to 29s 6d; ordinary, 22s to 265; light, 17s to 20s; extra prime heavy ewes, to 38s 4d; prime heavy, 27s to 31s; medium weight, prime, 24s to 26s 6d; ordinary, 20s 6d to 23s 6d; light, 16s 6d to 20s. Fat cattle.—An entry of 360 with 130 from the North Island and 60 from the West Coast and several lines from Southland. The quality was good all through, and values were the same as last week except for heavy cows, which were £1 cheaper. Best bcc.f made from 26s to 295, occasional pens making over 30s; good, 22s to 265; heavyweight, 19s to 225; medium, 15s to 18s; rough, down to 14s. Values wore: Extra prime heavy sLcers, to £l3 7s 6d; prime heavy, £9 10s to £l2; prime heavyweight, £8 10s to £lO 10s; ordinary, £6 10s to £8; light, to £6; extra prime heifers, to £lO 17s 6d; prime, £6 15s to £8 15s; medium, £4 15s to £6 ss; light, to £4 10s; extra prime cows, to £9 12s 6d; prime, £5 10s to £7 10s; medium, £4 to £5 ss; light, to £3 15s. Fat pigs.—A medium entry with a good demand. Values wore: Choppers, 25s to £2 18s 6d; baconers, 42s 6d to 52s 6d; heavy, 56s 6d to £2 18s 6d; extra, to £3 5s 6d; average price a pound, 4id to 4icl; porkers, 25s 6d to 32s 6d; heavy, 35s 6d to £2 Is 6d; average, 4Jd to sid. JOHNSONVILLE. SALE. Spring lambs were offered in larger numbers than usual, and were of exceptionally gxjod quality, meeting a keen demand at Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and Abraham and Williams, Ltd.’s, Johnsonyillc stock sale yesterday. Cattle: The quality of the bullocks offered was not up to the yardings of late weeks. A few pens of prime heavyweight cattle met with a good demand at late rates, lighter cattle and plainer sorts being easier. Some prime quality heavy cows and heifers wero submitted and met with a good sale; prices, however, showed a decline on late rates of up to 10s per head. Sheep: Tho bulk of the wethers offered wore shorn. There was a poor demand for wethers, prices being easier than last week’s rates. Ewes, which were of good quality, met with a better sale at reduced limits. Prices were: . HAWKE’S BAY SALE. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Oct. 4. Fat cattle rates showed little change at Stortford Lodge to-day, when 320 head met a fair demand. Bullocks, medium to primo, £6 2s 6d to £8 2s 6d; others, from £5; cows, medium to primo, £4 8s 6d to £5 6s; others, from £3 3s; heifers, _ medium to prime, £4 12s to £5 ss; others, from £4. Thore wero 1097 storo’ cattle yarded, this being tho heaviest entry this season, but despite this values wore about on a par and the bulk of the offering was absorbed. Steers mado £2 4s to £4 lls; bullocks, £3 19s to £5 Is. Fat sheep: One thousand were yarded, prices improving from 6d to Is per head, wethers being chiefly affected. Ewes, medium to prime, 17s 6d to 19s 6d; others, from lls 6d; hoggets, to 23s 6d; wethers, medium to prime, 20s to 255; others, from 18s. A modorato yarding of store sheep met a good demand, competition being keenest on wether and hogget lines, for which outside buyers, particularly Manawatu interests, were operating. Ewes either empty or with lambs at foot showed an easing tendency. Ewos, empty, to 14s 10d; ewes and lambs (all counted), to 10s; wethers, to 19s; hoggets, to 18s 4d. WESTFIELD SALE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 4. Larger numbers of beef cattle wero available at Westfield to-day. The quality was good, but there was a slack demand, requirements being affected by tho hot weather conditions, and prices were lower by about 2s per 1001 b., especially on heavyweight cattle. Extra choice ox made 18s a 1001 b; choice and prime, 15s to 17s; secondary and plain, 15s to 14s; prime young cow and heifer beef, 14s to 17s; ordinary cow beef, 15s to 16s. Extra heavy primo steers made £7 10s to £7 17s 6d; heavy prime, £6 17s 6d to £7 7s 6d; lightor prime, £6 5s to £6 15s; light prime, £5 10s to £6; small and unfinished, £4 12s 6d to £5 ss; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £4 17s to £5 ss; heavy prime, £4 to £4 15s; lighter prime, £3 to £3 17s 6d; other killable cows, £2 ’2s 6d to £2 17s 6d. A large yarding of i sheep sold under steady competition at ! late rates. Prime wethers, shorn, 20s 9d to 255; unshorn, 22s 3d to 29s 6d; unfinished, i 17 S to 20s; unshorn, 20s to 225; prime j ewes, shorn, 12s to 17s 9d; unshorn, 15s ; to 255; unfinished unshorn, 10s to 16s 9d; ' irvime hoggets, 17s 9d to 28s 6d; unfinished 12s to 17s 6d. Baconers, 40s to 695; porkers, 20s to 395;. large stores, 23a to 325. BURNSIDE SALE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Oct. 4. The local trade absorbed practically the whole of the offering of fat cattle at today’s Burnside sale. Full yardings of cattle and sheep were offered, and comprised a wide selection of excellent quality. Medium and light-weight bullocks showed little change in values, but prime heavy ox beef, after a weak opening, improved to nearly last week’s rates. Cows'and heifers, sold from par to 10s lower. Extra , heavy primo bullocks sold to £l3 17s 6d; prime heavy, £lO to £l2; medium, £8 to £9 10s; light, £6 10s to £7 10s; light and unfinished, £5 to £6; primo heifers, to £5 12s 6d; good mediumweights, £5 to £6; best cows, to £8 7s 6d; good quality weights, £6 to £7; and others £4 to £5 10s. Prime wethers were prominent in a yarding of 1520 sheep, and being in oversupply, were slightly easier. Ewes sold at late rates. Exceptionally heavy prime wethers mado to 355; prime heavy, 29s to 325; prime medium weights, 25s to 28s; light, 22s to 245; extra prime heavy ewes, 325; prime heavy, 26s to 295; prime medium, 22s to 255; medium weights, 19s to 21s; light, 15s to 18s. The few hoggofs offered made Is a head up on last week, the top price being 28s. A larger entry of spring lambs met an erratic sale. Best lambs sold to 325, tho average being from 22s to 265.
