WELLINGTON STOCK EXCHANGE.

YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS AND PRICES. No marked changes were seen yesterday in the Wellington stock and share market, prices being mostly steady at about late rates. There was again a very ktwi demand for Government loans and local body debentures. Buyers' quotations showed only minor changes, and there was little response from holders. Banks continued fairly active, with small variations in prices. Australasias sold strongly at £l3 2s 6d, and more were offering at 2s 6d higher. Commercial of Australia were a shade down in a sale at 16s 9d, late buyers offering a penny lower. New Zealands firmed sharply, buyers offering a shilling more at 475, with sellers holding for 47s 6d. Union of Australia wore again sold at £lO Bs. Pastoral and financial shares were firm, Dalgetys advancing 2s to £lO 12s, without response. National Mortgage "B" wero 3d up at 27s 3d, and Goldsbrough Morts were unchanged at 28s 6d. Gas shares were a firm market on an active inquiry, and Wellingtons advanced to a sale at 345. Insurance shares showed some variation. New Zealands cased to 545, and South British to 745, tho latter being quoted cum dividend. Nationals at 18s and Standards at 61s wore unchanged. Meat shares were firm. Wellington Woollens were in demand at £5 10s 6d for the ordinaries, and £5 10s for the preference, sellers asling £5 15s in both cases. N.Z. Breweries finned slightly to 37s 3d, and Tooths moved up to sell at 41s, late buyers staying in at 40s lOd. There was a strong d. mand for miscellaneous industrials, which were generally firm. An improved demand for gold mining shares was also evident. Mount Lyells were firm at 24s 3d. YESTERDAY'S QUOTATIONS.
