ASSESSING DEATH ROLL.

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 5. The death-roll of the scrub fire which overwhelmed the relief workers stood at 27 on Wednesday night, though the Coroner, Mr Frank Nance, said it was virtually impossible to tell whether the numerous fragmentary bones and other objects found in the burned area belonged to the bodies already brought out or indicated new victims.
