NEW ZEALAND WINS.
BOXING TESTS AT BRISBANE. Received October 6, 8.10 a.m. BRISBANE, Oct. 6. The concluding series of the Austra-lian-New Zealand boxing tests again attracted a big crowd at the Brisbane Stadium. Giving a clever exhibition of glove work and determined hard hitting, AAk Purdie, New Zealand (9.9) technically knocked out R. Nixon Smith (10.4) in, the third round of the 10.7 division. Then H. Neal, New Zealand (11.54) made ' the: honours even by knocking out L. Colton (10.94) in the second round of the 11.6 division.
AVith a big advantage in weight, A. Lindsay, New Zealand (13.10) wa.s able to slog his way to victory in the heavy-weight section over L. 0. Inskip (12.14). The Australian went down for the count of nine four times during four rounds, but the New Zealander only won on points. M. Hawes (8.11) made it a clean sweep for New Zealand, clinching the test by six matches to four. He outpointed P. Hallas (9.0) in one of the best fights of the night in the nine stone division.
