SIR C. KINGSFORD SMITH’S PROGRESS. BAGDAD, Oct. 6. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith departed at four o’clock this morning, local time, and passed Basra six hours later. He hopes to reach Karachi to-night. Sir Charles is not attempting to break the record, but wants to keep appointments in Australia in ten days. The England-Australia record is 8 days 20 hours 44 minutes, held by Mr Charles Scott. A HALT MADE. Received October 7, 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 6. Sir Charles Kingsford Smith landed at Gwada.r at 6 o’clock this evening. He is staying the night and expects to reach Karachi to-morrow morning.
