PRECAUTIONS IN SPAIN.

MARTIAL LAW PRELIMINARY. MADRID, Oct. 6. As a precaution during the Ministerial crisis the President has proclaimed a state known as “prevention,” which is a preliminary to martial law. The Lerroux Government continues to function temporarily. The Socialists are stated to be preparing a general strike. On the other hand, the Labour Press affirms that the military is preparing for another coup d’etat. A communique has been issued which says that the state of “prevention” applies at present only in Catalonia, where there is an electricity and gasworlsers’ strike. Great nervousness prevails throughout the country, most Spaniards demanding dissolution of the Cortes.
