SOCIAL FUNCTIONS.
The usual fortnightly dance in the Central School on Friday evening took the form of a “Back to Childhood” old-time dance. The attendance, as usual, was large, the varied juvenile costumes being a striking feature of the assembly. Mrs Mansford, Mrs Bosworth and Mrs Trask, to whom bouquets were presented by little Dorothy Evans, acted as judges, the winning costumes being worn by the following: Twins, Miss Roberts and Miss Peterson ; baby, Mr Roberts (Little "Willie) ; most original costume, Mrs Wearne; best dressed girl, Dorothy Evans; best dressed baby, Miss Towers; best dressed boy, Mrs Wearne (sailor boy). The winners of the Monte Carlo were Mrs Weir and Mr Foster; and of the lucky Gay Gordons, Mrs Franks and Mr Dunn. The supper served by the school ladies’ committee, under the control of the chairwoman (Mrs D. Evans) was all that could be desired. Extras were played by Mr C. R. Anderson, and Mr A. Gordon acted as M.C. with his usual efficiency.
