RUGBY FOOTBALL.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Oct. 8. The final series of matches in the Rugby football championship was played on Saturday. University, by defeating College Rifles, and Marist, by defeating Ponsonby, make Marist, University and Ponsonby all level again at the head of the championship table. Owing to the lateness of the season it is likely that the three teams will be bracketed. Results are: University 33 v. College Rifles 6; Manukau 9 v. Technical Old Boys 8; Marist 25 v. Ponsonby 5; Grafton 24 v. Otahuliu 15; Grammar 14 v. Training College 3. OTHER RESULTS. Greymouth.—West Coast 9 v. Canterbury 8. Taihape.—C. G. Porter’s Wellington team 14 v. Taihape 12.
