RANGITIKEI.
MARTON, Oct. 7. The military dance held by the Marton Defence Rifle Club and the Marton Volunteers, was well attended. The floor was good, the decorations exceptionally fine and things were kept moving in good style. The supper was excellent and those responsible, under Mrs A. J. B. Siccly, are to bo congratulated on their splendid work. Neighbouring units were well represented. including Colonel Cade and Major McCrorio (Wanganui) and Major Pollock (Fcilding). Visitors were present from Huntervillo, Wanganui. Palmerston North, Fcilding and surrounding country 'Friends of Mr A. Gibson, of Marton, will regret to learn that ho has entered hospital in Palmerston North to undergo a serious operation to his eyes. _Mr Basil Openshaw, of Marton, left Wellington today for Sydney, whore he joins the Niagara as wireless operator.
