(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, Oct. 9. The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Wodncsday night, Mr E. J. Bowator presiding over a full attendance. Tho head teacher (Mr G. F. Francis) was also present. Tho chairman reported on tho work that had been done on Arbor Day. In the absence of Mr E. 11. Lange, who was unable to bo present, Mr Bowater said, he had given a short address to the children. Members expressed appreciation of tho address. Appreciative reference was made of tho efforts of Mr J. Currie in connection with tho community sings, and tho secretary was directed to write conveying the thanks of the committee. Members expressed dissatisfaction at tho arrangements for the attendance of the local school _ children at tho dental clinic. The chairman was authorised to wait on Colonel J. H. Whyte (chairman of the Dental Clinio Committee). In connection with tho transport arrangements, tho teachers were accorded a vote of thanks. The head teacher’s report • was read and received. It stated that Mr E. H. Lange had visited tho school and expressed regret for being unable to bo present on Arbor Day. He had given the children a very interesting address and in connection with the shrubs just planted Mr Lange bad given tho children some valuable advice. Tho head teacher made a request for a cabinet in which to keep the school records. It was resolved that an application be made to tho board. The chairman brought up the question of renewing the boys’ shelter shed and it was resolved to ask tho boa,rd to givo the matter consideration. Tho head teacher handed tho chairman tho environment, certifieato that bad been awarded and on the motion of the chairman a vote of thanks was accorded tho teachers for tho efforts in having the certificate aawrded. It, was decided that tho certificate be suitably framed. Mr Wilcooic said lie would see that the frame was supplied, and tho offer was accepted with thanks.
