PRICES REMAIN FIRM. LONDON, Oct. 6. The official London (middle) quotations for Friday, as reported by the Australian tralian Mines and Metals Association, compare as under with those previously cabled :

Friday’s closing prices for the following raw materials were as follow, those for September 29 being in parentheses:— Cotton. —Liverpool quotation, good American middling, 5.44 d a lb (5.60 d); November delivery, 5.26 d a lb (5.48 d). Rubber.—Para, 4J,d a lb (same); plantation smoked ribbed sheet, 4 l-32d a lb (4d). Jute.—Ocfober-November shipment, Indian jute, Dundee quotation, £ls 2s 6cl a ton (£ls Os 7id). Henm, October-Novem-ber shipment, nominally £ls 10s. Copta. Octobcr-Novcinber shipment, South Sea, £9 5s a ton (£9 7s 6d); plantation, Rabaul, £9 7s 6d a ton (£9 10s). Linseed oil. —£20 a ton (£2O 15s). lurpontine: 47s 9d a cwt (47s 3d). Ctennridium: Unchanged.
