FIRE AT FOXTON.
FAMILY HOTEL GUTTED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON, June 28. Fire broke out in the ground floor of the Family Hotol, Doxton, shortly before 11 o’clock on Saturday night and practically gutted the rear portion of the large wooden structure before the flames wore got under control. The brigade made a remarkable save 'by preventing the destruction of the front portion of the hotel. Fortunately the night was perfectly calm and a good pressure of water was availTKc building was recently purchased by Mr J Winnard, of Kimboltpn, from Mr W Kirkland and Mr Winnard was in occupation. Mrs F. Edlin, a member at the staff, whose room adj'oins the kitchen, gave the alarm. She opened her room to find the kitchen filled with smoke, and had to make good her escape via the bedroom window. In doing so she sustained a severe cut on the forearm from broken glass. The fire "-ot into the ceiling joists and extensive damage was done. The upstairs portion suffered considerably from smoke and water damage. , > The building was insured.
