The fortnightly euchre and dance were well attended and the fokowing were the prize w’nnors: Ladies, Miss A. Wild 1, Mrs Satliorloy 2; men, Mr IX Bennett 1, Mr Satherley 2, Mr T. Gribb 3 The old pupils of Newbury held a scry io’W dance this week, there being a good attendance. The duties of M.G were carried out by Mr J. Gunlisse. Miss S. Purton and Mr 11. Linklator were joint seere The eS June meeting of the Newbury Women’s Insttute was held yesterday afternoon, Mrs Shaw presiding oyer a fair attendance. Apologies for alycncc worn received from Mesdames Death, Hansen, Baker, Simpson, Lovelock, 1 enberthv and Miss Burbury. The competition for the four oven (plain) scones resulted : Mrs J. Chcetham 1, Mrs; E. Si)aw 2, Mrs Lancester 3; the best flower from my garden,” Mrs N. Wood 1, Mis Penhertliy 2, Mrs Chcetham 3. A demonstration "on the making of wood pulp flowers by Mrs H. Swainson was keenly followed: Mrs Shaw moved a vote of thanks to Mrs Swainson. It was decided that the competition for next month be a tray cloth made from a 251 b flour bag, worked' in coloured cottons (any design). Afternoon tea hostesses were Mesdames Burbury and G\ Collins. Congratulations are extended to Mr b. Death, manger of the Red Rose Factory for his successes at the Winter Show held in Palmerston North. Mr and Mrs M. Hansen have left on a motor tour and are visiting Stratford. Taupo and Auckland They expect to return in a week s tune. Mr and Mrs P. L. Wright, Newbury Line, are on a visit to Australia. Mr Billie Maidens,, of Marton, has returned home alter visiting his mother, with whom he has been convalescing. Mr and Mrs W. Penbertliy have had Mr and Mrs S. Tong, of Oka’awa, visiting them. Mr and Mrs J. Lancester leave on a holiday trip this week and intend to visit the W aikato district. Mr and Mrs A. Parsons, of Mataroa, "have been visiting Mr and Mrs J. Chcetham, Mrs Parsons’s parents. Mr A. Lancester has returned to To Awamutti after spend'ng a holiday with Mr and Mrs J. Lancester.
