PAIIIATUA, June 25. The decision of the executive of the Bush Hockey Association to suspend Miss M. Sigvortson for tlio remainder of the season was discussed at a general meeting tliis week, a letter protesting against the decision being read. '1 lie player herself had written admitting the olfence, but it had not been directed at the referee, bhe had acted under extreme provocation, lho writer stated that she considered it unfair that she should have been dealt with with out, being allowed to state her case to the executive last week. A further letter of protest was received from the Nircaha Club (over the sentence meted out to their caplain, Miss Sigvortson), saying that the sentence was out of all reason. ’1 he chib slated further that prior to the match they hud made a point of going to a member ot the executive and asked that Mr Cavanagh should not referee the game. Jhe chairman said the meeting had been called to enable the player in question to give her explanation to the executive, and called on the latter to do this. Miss Sigvcrtsen stated that what she had said to Mr Cavanagh had been said to him after the 'game, off the playing ground, not as a referee, but as a private man. The player said further that she used the off the playing field, not on the ground. The chairman pointed out that she was wrong in this respect as she was on a ground under the jurisdiction of the association, even if not actually on the playing area. There was a long discussion, following which it was decided to alter the suspension to two playing Saturdays provided an apology to the referee is made. PAHIATCA, Juno 26. Rev. A. 11. Semin, general secretary for the Methodist Foreign Missions Department, was a guest at the parsonage over the week-end. Miss M. Lamb, of Hcrotaungu, Wellington, is visituig her aunt, Mrs (J. S. Carrad. Constable C. Le Comte, of Puliiutua. who has been on relieving duty at Eketaluma, has now proceeded to Pongaroa. where lie will he stationed for six weeks. Constable and Mrs Gainey, of Pongaroa, have left for a holiday in Austin lia. The wedding was recently solemnised at St. John’s Church, Darlinghnrst, Sydney, of Mildred Coltle, elder daughter of Mrs W. IT. Lcarmonth, of Hastings, and formerly of- Wanganui, to Richard Wilson Twenlyman, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. O. Twenty-man, of Hukanui.
