(From Our Own Correspondent.) FOXTON. June 25. Mr R. T. Betty is an inmate of the J’almerston North Hospital. Mr G. Rough, senr.. leaves to-morrow for Wellington on holiday. Mr E. Jackson, of the Bank of New Zealand, is on annual leave. Mr W. R. Allen, of Palmerston North, is acting in a relieving capacity. The monthly meeting of (he roxton Women’s Institute was presided over by Mm E. Brown. A motion of sympathy was accorded the relatives of the*late Mis L. Richardson. It was decided that the money from the recent hail should He used to meet expenses incurred in procuring the services of demonstrators and lecturers. The annual birthday party will he held on August 19. The infant son of Mrs L. J. Chittenden was proton tod with a mug in accordance with an institute custom. A talk was given by- (Mrs Bowler \\ at son. of Ralmcrslon North, on antique china and porcelain and pottery making. At the monthly meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce quotations were received for electric clocks suitable for erecting in Main Street. It was generally agreed that the most suitable locality for the clock would be outside the l’ost Office, as a guarantee of correct time would result from attention by Post Office officials. It was decided to defer tHo matter pending receipt of further information. Mr M. E. Rorrcuu reported that he had received advice to the.effect that on July 7 between 200 ami 300 members of the Young Farmers’ Club would visit Foxton. Tfioro was an attendance of over fifty children at the Manawatu Hoads Sunday school annual tea and prize-giving. The school has an average attendance of 34 t-hildrcn. The superintendent is Mr D. Chrystall. of Foxton, who thanked the ladies present and others for assistance in connection with the effort, and then presented the prizes. It was decided to, entertain the visitors. It was stated that the Foxton Harbour Board had been very activo following the cancellation of the Foxton-Lyttelton service and arrangements had practically been completed for another boot to take up the running when advice was received that (lie Foxton would resume the trade. June 24.
Mr W. Baker met with a painful accident while operating a mixing machine on Wednesday afternoon. His right index finger became caught and was badly lacerated. necessitating his admission to the Palmerston North Hospital for treatment. The late Mrs Sarah Ann Honour, who passed away at Foxton this week. rears of age and was born in London. She accompanied her husband to the Dominion in 1911 when they settled in Foxton where they have resided ever since. Besides her husband, Mrs Honour leaves a family of three sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs Phillip Honour (Palmerston North) and Stanley and Frank, of Foxton. The daughters are Misses ■ Christie and Gertrude Honour, of Foxton. Mr 'J’. Chalk (Levin) is a brother and sisters are Mesdr.mcs Hurry and Croakley (London).

Owen (piLsiclent, Of the Croquet Club), after wishing .Mrs Bii-il overv happiness in her new home, asked her to accept a token or appreciation and esteem from her fellow members. MrI M E Perreau. on behalf of the I'oxton I Golf Club, presented Mrs Baird with a I token of remembrance from the golfers.
