FALLING BIRTHRATE.
NECESSITY OF A HALT. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, June 28. A scheme designed to arouse the public conscience to the urgent need of increasing the New Zealand birthrate has been conceived by Mr D. V. Bryant, of Hamilton. Mr Bryant considers that the need for further population in New Zealand is of paramount importance and considers that New Zealanders have no right to hold land unless they are prepared to make the fullest use of it. His idea is by propaganda and organisation to bring about widespread recognition of the vital need of arresting the rapid fall in the birthrate. To this end he hopes to form an '.organisation with headquarters in Wellington and branches throughout the Dominion. Mr Bryant has always been interested in social nroblems. particular!}' the welfare of youth. He is the founder of the Bryant Home for orphans at Raglan.
