TRANS-POLAR AIRMEN.
WELCOME TO MOSCOW. MOSCOW, June 25. M. Josef Stalin visited the aerodrome to welcome the tra.ns-Polar airmen, MM. Schmidt and Vodopianov, in company with scores of Soviet leaders, whose attendance contradicted rumours of their arrest. The airmen sprang on to the dais and kissed M. Stalin and the Commissar for Defence (M. Voroshilov) and Marshal Budenny, after which the Vice-Premier of the Ukraine (M. Chubar) declared that Russians, now that the Tukachevskv gang had been destroyed. were more devoted than ever to national defence. M. Schmidt replied: “When we heard by wireless of General Tuka'chevsky’s treason we decided • to give our last drop of blood to defend M. Stalin.” Cars decked with flowers bore the .airmen along eight crowded miles of highway to the Kremlin.
