THE BUTTER MARKET
LOWER PRICES ACCEPTED. GRADUAL EASING LIKELY. CHEESE DEMAND POOR. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received June 28, 11 a.m. LONDON, Juno 27. After a featureless week, butter dealers are apparently tired of admiring their stocks and are accepting lower I prices. Buyers, however, are slow in responding. The market may go easier belore interest revives. The position is very sensitive, but the Tooley Street merchants expect a gradual easing in prices rather than an appreciable break. The total arrivals in May were 41,016 tons, compared with -k> ; 6so tons last year. The stocks to June 5 increased by 3.275 tons compared with the previous month. They now total 19,635 tons. Cheese is difficult and there is a poor demand. Buyers are covering only their immediate) requirements. The demand tor apples and pears has improved and prices are firmer.
