TOUR DE FRANCE RACE.
TROUBLE OVER CYCLISTS. BORDEAUX, July 23. Insults, missiles and blows from the crowd caused the withdrawal of the Belgian team from the Tour de France cycle race when in a winning position. Earth and stones were thrown, pepper flung in the riders’ eyes and levelcrossing gates closed, delaying the competitors. The crowd’s wrath was due to the French riders being penalised for technical faults, the team’s leader accusing the Belgians of trickery.
