Aliss Ursula Bridget Newell, the youngest Alagistrate in England and a ladies’ golf international, died at Turnberry in June. She retired after luncheon to her hotel bedroom, where she died. Aliss Newell was called to the Bar when she was 21, and became a J.P. at 23, sitting on the Atatlock. Derbyshire, Dench. She was one of the best women golfers in Britain, and was one of the favourites for the British women’s championship.
