BUSH BEAT DANNEVIRKE.

The Bush senior representative team on Saturday beat Dannevirke by 11 points (a converted try and two penalty goals) to 6 (two penalties) in an attractive match, a feature of which was Riddell’s kicking. The teams were as follow: Bush (red and maroon). —D. Wolland. S. Wolland, Riddell, Twentyman, McSherry Stringfellow, Lett, Fallover, Aitken, Harvey, Verry, Upston, Bailey, Spring, Luke. Dannevirke (yellow and black). — Hall, Selby, Power, J. Bassett, Russell, Fothergill, Harris, T. Bassett, W. Bassett, Craven, Small, Hunt, Dew, Peters. Bush kicked off and the forwards worked well, but offside play nullified several promising movements, and a number of shots at goal failed. Bush attacked solidly, however, and Twentyman broke through Selby’s defence to score, in the comer. Riddell converted from a difficult angle. Again Bush were unlucky, for Stringfellow ran almost through before he passed to Wolland, who gpt over, but a scrum was ordered. Offside play by Dannevirke gave Riddell a chance and he sent the ball between the posts. Three penalties against Bush failed to open Dannevirke’s score, and a forward rush was without result. However, from a further penalty Small opened the scoring. Play was taken to midfield, where it stayed for some time. Dannevirke were penalised for a scrum infringement which ,saw Riddell again goal from fifty yards out.— Bush 11, Dannevirke 3. After half-time Bush were again heavily penalised and a penalty kick against Bush for off-side play gave Small the kick and he sent the leather over.—Bush 11, Dannevirke 6. McSherry put Bush in a good position, '.but Dannevirke rallied and carried play back to mid-field. A penalty once again against Bush gave Small a chance for goal, but the ball went wide. Dannevirke tried hard to put on further points, but Bush held them back. , ■

Good Yvorlc by DeYV gave Dannevirke a chance in Bush’s twenty-five, but Riddell gathered in and sped downfield to be forced out. From the line-out Russell gained possession and with a series of. passes gained much ground. Riddell came to light with a clever piece of work and moved play into Dannevirke’s territory. Dannevirke infringed near midfield and Riddell had another shot at goal, but the distance Yvas too great. The whistle sounded with the score unchanged. Mr J. Setford refereed.
