FIRES RAGING
INCENDIARY BOMBS. FIGHTING AROUND MADRID. RAID ON BARCELONA. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright.) Received July 26, 9.35 a.m. LONDON, July 25. The insurgents reported last evening the recapture of Burnete after severe fighting, but Madrid to-day declared that the occupation was only partial and the insurgents since have been driven out with heavy losses. Many fires are raging over a wide area due to incendiary bombs. A message from Barcelona states that a rebel air raid killed 65 persons and wounded 150.
WESTWARD DRIVE. LOYALISTS CLAIM SUCCESS. MADRID, July 24. Continuing the drive westward, the Government claims that its troops have entered Navalagamella. Government ’planes continue to bomb a number of towns, aerodromes and railway stations being the main objectives. It is claimed that 12 aeroplanes were destroyed at the aerodromes. T.lie police announce that a search was carried out in a big bank in Madrid where the possessions of person:: suspected of pro-Franco activity were stored. Securities and jewels valued at £300,000 wero seized. A message from Salamanca states that General Franco has decreed July 25 as a day of national homage to the soldiers. Every person is morally obliged to visit the hospitals and honour the wounded and to deposit a gift in public boxes. Every soldier should be sent a letter by his family and friends.
