SIR CHARLES SAUNDERS. TORONTO, July 26. . The death has occurred of Sir Charles Saunders, developer of the Marquis variety of wheat. Sir Charles Edward Saunders, was born in London, Canada, in 1867. He was for twenty years in the employ of the Canadian Government (experimental farms branch), testing- cereals and producing new varieties, especially of wheat, several of which —tho Marquis, Ruby, Reward, and Garnet —have become famous. lie wan an honorary LL.D. of tho University of Western Ontario, and was knighted in 1934.
