TABLE TENNIS
MANAWATU BEAT MASTERTON. On Saturday night a table tennis match was played between the Manawatu representative team and a team from the Masterton Winter Sports Club. The teams consisted of eight men and four ladies, and the match was won by the Manawatu team by 48 matches to 16. The results are as follow, the Manawatu players being mentioned first: Men’s Singles.—L. Sweetman beat J. Nicholls, J. Coleman, R. Clarke, lost to F. Bodle; J. The result of the first round of the C grade competition is; Longburn 1 14 pts, Takaro 12 pts. Milson 10 pts, Terrace End 1 8 pts, Hokowhitu 5 pts, St. Patrick’s 4 pts, Longburn 22 pts. Terrace End 2 lpt. In the first 2 matches of the A grade, second round, Hokowhitu 2 beat Takaro 2 by 11 games to 5, but lost the doubles, 1 <3; Takaro 1 beat Terrace End 1 9 to 7, and 3 to 1 in the doubl.es; Takaro 1 beat Hokowhitu 1 10 to 6, and 3 to 1; Takaro 2 beat Terrace End 2 11 to 5, and 3to 1; Terrace End 1 beat Hokowhitu 2 15 to 1, and 4—o. In last week’s B grade games St. Patrick s 1 beat Hokowhitu 19 to 17 ; Milson beat Terrace End 22 to 14. In the C grade Takaro beat Longburn 2 30 to 6, and Milson beat Terrace End 1 30 to 6. The score sheets for the other B and C grade games have not yet been received. ■
