DEBATING SOCIETY.

The Palmerston North Debating Society met last evening when there was a large attendance of members. The earlier part of the evening was occupied by an address on “Delivery” by Rev. F. S. Ramson. The main debate “That inter-Em-pire trade should be fostered, even if detrimental to international trade.” Those taking part were: Messrs S. G. La.urenson (leader), T. C. Watson, L. Hay; H.’G. Mills (leader), D. Robertson and E. C. Watson. Mr Ramson acted as adjudicator and gave a win to the affirmative; he awarded the S. M. Carlton Medal for the best spcechj to Mr T. C. Watson. Air R.amson offered valuable criticism to each speaker in his summing up.
