The '“knockout” competition was finalised on Saturday, when Rongotea (black) and Oroua Downs (yellow) played at Sanson, the latter winning by three points to nil gained from a penalty goal. Rongotea had the advantage in, the first spell, keeping the Downs on the defensive for the major part of the time, but failed to score. In the second half the Downs gradually gained the advantage, keeping Rongotea hard pressed, and from a penalty awarded them the Downs kicked a goal. They won the game and with it the Fagan Cup for the “knockout” competition. Rangiotu and Oroua Downs have still one game to play, which will decide who holds the AlcKohie Shield.
