OBITUARY

MRS K. A. OAKLEY. Feilding suffered the loss of another early settler, this morning, when Mrs Kate Annie Oakley, wife of Mr William Torr Oakley, of 14 Wellington Street, passed away. Mrs Oakley was married in the Anglican Church, Feilding, 43 years ago, and the first years of her wedded life were spent at where her husband owned a farm of some 400 acres, now occupied by Mr E. Cousins. Later, Mr and Mrs Oakley removed to North Shore, Auckland, and after several years’ residence there they returned to Feilding, where they have resided ever since. Mrs Oakley was the possessor of a kindly disposition and made many friends, and • older members of the Feilding and Oroua Croquet Clubs will recall her energetic efforts in regard to social functions. She was also fond of her garden. Besides her husband she leaves one daughter, Mrs C. M. Terry, of Palmerston North; and two grandchildren. Sisters and brothers of Mrs Oakley are: Mesdames H. Dixon (Wellington). R. Stewart (Campbell Street, Feilding), G. Healey (Feilding), A. Brown (Kiwitea), G. Johnston (Stanway), J. Nortlicote (Feilding), A. McDougall (MatiereJ, Messrs J.
