FEILDING HIGH SCHOOL.
OLD PUPILS’ ASSOCIATION. Tho annual report of the Feilding- Agri cultural High School Old. Pupi.s’ Association states: “Tho affairs of the association have progressed and prospered with continued zcist during tho past year. The various reunions and other gatherings have been well attended, and the committee is pleased with the response with which its efforts have been met. The association s pages in the 1936 Sheaf were made as comprehensive as po»=*>iblc although there were not so many notes from outside centres as usual. However, a general survey of tho association’s work was given and it is hoped that readers found it interesting. The first reunion in 1937 was held at Auckland in February, when a good gathering of old pupils from the Auckland district and the Waikato enoyed a happy evening. Tho committee was officially represented by Mr George Mitchell.*Wo wish again to thank Miss Janice Niall for the enthusiastic manner in which she carried out tho work necessary to make this reunion a success. The second reunion was held at Marton in April. This was tho first such function in this centre and proved a great success. Tho address was given by Mr G. J. FitzPatrick. Mr S. A. Mclndoc and Mr 11. Bridge are to bo thanked for their work in organising tho reunion.
“On April 17 Mr and Mrs L. J. Wild were the guests of tlie association at a farewell dinner prior to their departure for America and. England. Presentations of a suitcase to Mr Wild and a handbag to Mrs Wild were made by the president. The Kimbolton reunion was again a very successful function. Mr Fitzpatrick repeated his talk on his trip to Australia. Tho Threvenard Brothers again very capably supervised tho arrangements. iho eleventh annual Wellington reunion was held on June 26 with a good atlendacnc of old pupils from both Wellington and Feilding. The arrongementsm were in tho capable hands of Mr R Wild. The committee has made every effort to keep this year's commemoration up to its usual high standard. Wo were fortunate in being able to obtain the assistance of tho * Manawatu Repertory society in connection with the concert and wo feel suro that everyone is satisfied with tho production. Wo wish to thank especially Mrs W. A. Sandilands who conducted tho Old Girls’ Choir, and the school for tho use of the hall, and assistance given during tho performance by ushers and door-
keepers. Wo respectfully suggest that the committee elected for next year should immediately appoint a sub-committee to commence to organise next year’s, concert with the view to having the entire programme an old pupils’ performance. Every care has been tak/11 in the organisation of the ball. To-day's functions have, been given every attention and we feel sure that Mr McClure, as acting-headmaster, will he able to report to Mr Wild on his return that the association lias again well demonstrated its keen interest in and loyalty to the school. “The financial membership as at December 31, 1936, was as follows: —Life members, 95; annual members, 242; total 337. The' financial statement shows the association to be in a satisfactory position. The cointnittco desires to place on record its appreciation of the interest taken by Miami Mrs McClure in the work of the association, and particularly during Mr Wild’s absence. Wo thank (hem for arranging the tea and the invitation to financial members.”
