INTENTIONS IN OTAGO.' . Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, July 27. The intention of motorists to ask for some relief from taxation this year was emphasised by Mr E. J-. Anderson, speaking for the Automobile Association “( Otago) at the annual meeting, of the Otago Expansion League. He stated that they intended to seek the extinction of the 4ld a gallon petrol tax. which was imposed by the previous Government as an emergency measure and accepted as such. He would a* ■-• urge that the practice of paying sub» sidles on rates to local bodies should be abolished, that the diversion ui main highways funds to the Consolidated Fund be definitely discontinued. and that the charging of interest on past free grants by the Highways Board be discontinued.
