REQUESTS FOR MATCHES. CLOSE OF CHAMPIONSHIPS. A meeting of the Manawatu Hockey Association was held, last evening, Mr W. H. Wilson presiding. The Akitio Women’s Association, wrote intimating that July 31 would be suitable for a match. Lt was decided to notify tnem that the match would take place at Takaro at 2.30 p.m. It was decided to play a Town v. Country' match as a curtain-raiser. A communication from the Busli Association stating that August 21 would be suitable for women’s and men’s matches, at Palmerston North, was received. The Broadway Hockey Club applied for permission to play A. Patterson in the'senior B team. —Granted.

lt was decided to notify the Napier Hookey Sub-Association that the local association rogrets being unable to accept a representative fixture with that district during August. lt was decided that any team not paying its affiliation fee shall be barred from participating in tlie fixtures. A decision was made to close tlie senior championship at the end of the third round, and tlie junior at tlie end of the fifth round. The draw for tlie remaining games of the third round is as follows: July 31.—Phoenix v. Broadway Bs C. 0.8. v. Broadway A. August 7.—-Phoenix v. C. 0.8.; Broadway A v. Broadway B. Massey College default for the whole round owing to their vacation coming at an awkward time. Broadway and H.5.0.G., being level for the wumen’s championship, will play off when they meet during the sealed handicap championship. It was decided to ask the selector to arrange for a suitable team of young players from the junior grade to play the intermediate team in a practice game on August 7. SATURDAY’S FIXTURES. The fixtures and umpires for games on Saturday, July 31, are:— Men’s senior.—Phoenix' v. Broadway B (c), on No. 1 ground, Hokowlntu, at 3 p.m. (umpires, Messrs M. Levy and AV. H. Wilson) ; C. 0.8. v Broadway A (c), No. 2 ground, Hokowlntu, 3 p.m. (Messrs L. Martin and D. Wilton) . Men’s junior.—Combined Services v. Phoenix (f), No. 1 ground, Hokowhitu, 1.40 p.m. (Messrs S. Radchffe and K. Drinkwater) ; Broadway (f) v. Massey College, No. 2 ground, Hokowhitu, 1.40 p.m. (Messrs V. Turner and K. Burne). Women’s games. —Manawatu v. Akitio, Takaro Park, 2.30 p.m. (Mr 1. McLachlan) ; Town v. Country. Intermediate division.—Kea . v * Rovers, Huia v. Y.M.C.A., Takaro Park, 10 a.m.
