PALMERSTON MUSICIAN.
SUCCESS IN SYDNEY. In a recent issue of a Sydney theatrical publication, “The Trocadero News,” there appears a special article relating t-o Mr Colin Bergersen (the son of Mr H. A. Bergersen, of Palmerston North), who is at present a member of a leading Sydney orchestra. The article is written by the conluctor, Mr Frank Goughian, who describes the Palmerstonian as one of the most versatile members' of his band. Ho plays the saxophone, trumpet, clarinet, piano, and many other instruments and, to use Mr Coughlan’s own Words, “tops it all with as good a performance of the vox humana as one would wish to hear anywhere.”
“‘Mr Bergersen is the member of tho band who is probably more in the limelight than any other of my players,” continues the article, “because whenever J require a male voice to put over a song Bit my choice inevitably falls on this popular lad. To niC liis'singing is very reminiscent of Dick Powell’s, and an outstanding point about his versatility is his ability to learn a song in half an hour. He has a bright and obliging personality and is tremendously popular. He is one of the most versatile and capable musicians in the profession.” The article mentions, incidentally, that the talented musician, who is 23 years of age, married an equally popular Sydney girl about six months ago.
