COMING-OF-AGE DANCE.
MISS N. DUSTIN. To ceebrate the coming-of-nge of Aliss Noel Dustin, ony daughter of Mr and Mrs W. S. Dustin, of Palmerston North, an enjoyable dance was held in the Foresters’ Hall last night. There were about 100 present, including visitors from Wanganui, Wellington, Dannevirke, and Wangaehu. The hall presented a gay appearance, with balloons and novelties lending a festive air.
Airs Dustin, who received the guests, was smartly attired in black ring velvet with a beautiful diamante brooch, and Aliss Dustin looked beautiful in a model frock of corded silk with a lovely shot effect. An orchestra supplied bright music for modern and old-time dances, and the evening went with a swing from start_ to finish. Supper was served as an interlude, the supper-room being decorated with streamers, nnd the tables artistically arranged with Iceland poppies in silver and crystal vases, with slender candles set in candelabras. The handsome pink and silver two-tiered birthday cake was surmounted with a silver key, and the figure of a pink lady escorting a silver Alsatian dog on a fine silver chain, and was cut by the guest of honour. Air D. Dustin (Wanganui), in proposing a toast to Aliss Dustin, congratulated- her on attaining her majority and wished her every happiness in the future. Air D. Harkness presented Miss Dustin with a monster gold key, making an amusing speech. On behalf of his daughter, Air W. S. Dustin returned thanks. Paper hats and novelties were distributed and added to the fun.
The relatives present included Airs N.' Aliller and Aliss N. Duncan (AVellington), Air and Airs R. Duncan (Dannevirke), Airs W. S. Dustin, senr., Aliss H. Dustin, Mr and Airs D. Dustin, Alisses E., C. and B. Bailey (Wanganui), Air F. Smith, Ai-’ss M. Smith and Air T. Smith ( VVangaehu). Miss Dustin was the recipient of a beautiful array of presents.
