McCREADY BEATS WESCOTT. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, July 27. In probably the most spectacular bout staged in Wanganui Earl McCready secured a points decision over Norman (Rusty) Wescott, who was making his first New Zealand appearance. Each secured a fall. The bout had a, spectacular opening when Wescott came out from his corner and 6ont McCready to the mat with a flying tackle to secure a fall with a surfboard in 15 seconds. In the following rounds Wescott dominated, making McCready work harder than ever before in New Zealand. Wescott proved himself a popular showman and the possessor of a ! wide variety of holds. McCready was ' on the defensive and took severe punishment. Whenever he took up the at- ' tack he found Wescott a tough cusI tomer to handle until he secured his | equalising fall in the sixth round with lia body press after two dumps. Mci Croady never looked like pinning his opponent. ' McCready had slightly tho better of the last two rounds, and although both men made a determined effort for a winning fall, McCready was awarded the verdict by a slight _ margin of points. Wescott despite his weight is j very quick on his feet and on the mat and revealed considerable .'*.rength.
