INQUEST AT NAPIER
DOMESTIC’S DEATH. Per Press Association. NAPIER, July 27. At about 11 o’clock on the evening of July 17 last, Joan Kane, domestic, aged 17, after having a bath, the water for which was drawn from a gas calipliont, was found dead on the bathroom floor in the house where she was employed. At the inquest to-day the coroner. Mr J. Miller, returned a verdict that death was due to inhaling carbon monoxide gas accidentally and by misadventure. The coroner added that he hoped periodical inspection would be made of gas caliphonts, as people were not aware of the danger that existed from monoxide gas. During the evidence it was disclosed that the caliphont was not fitted to a fluepipc, and consequently the flames remained in the bathroom, the windows being closed. WATERSIDER’S DEATH. Per Press Association. NAPIER, July 27. That death was due to sclerosis of the coronary artery was the verdict at an inquest into the death of a waterside!-, Denis Johnstone Allen, who collapsed suddenly last Saturday at his home.
