MAY LEAVE SCREEN

FREDDIE BARTHOLOMEW. RESULT OF LITIGATION. HOLLYWOOD, July 26. The money troubles of the child film actor, Freddie Bartholomew”, have culminated in an announcement by his aunt, Mrs Myllicent Bartholomew that ho may abandon his screen career and go to England “in order to go to school and lead a normal Jife.” She continued that she was disapointcd at the refusal of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Film Corporation to' increase his salary to 2500 dollars a week from the 1100 dollars at which it stands at present. The cost of the guardianship litigation had left x-reddie with only a fragment of his earnings. It was no good .continuing unless the future were more assured.

“Neither of us have found happiness in Hollywood. W e will not return if we go to England. Freddie could always make good after completing his education,” she added.

A previous cablegram from Los Angeles stated that the Court had declined to name Freddie Bartholomew’s aunt, Myllicent Batholomew, as his solo guardian, despite the contention that it would simplify negotiations for a new 2500-dol-lar weekly contract for him. Iho bank remains the guardian of his estate and Aunt Myllicent the guardian of his person. Freddie was adopted by his aunt in April with the consent of his parents. Freddie, through his aunt, c.aimed 22,500 dollars from three law firms, alleging that they had conspired to defraud him in connection with his guardianship proceedings. The aunt charged her former attorneys with conspiring with the attorneys representing Freddie’s paronts to wrest the custody of him from her. She also alleged that the attorneys had suggested that she sio-n papers surrendering the care of Freddie’s estate.
