CLEARING SALE.
Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having hold a most successful sale of the complete dairy herd on account of Mr -J. Stuart, Ngaputahi, Pohangina Valley. The cows came forward in excellent condition, and showed eplcndid type and careful handling. Although there were no individual records, the total .herd of 50, leas 3 unsound cows, averaged just 10 guineas. The highest price paid was £lB 10s for a choice second calver. and £l2 was exceeded for 18 others under keen competition from local buyers and purchaser from Kairanga, Bunnythorpc, and Glen Oroua. For a grade herd the sale must rank as on i of the best held in 1 lie district. Wo quote: —Young cows, close to profit, £l2, £l3, £l4, £ls, £l6, £lB, £lB 10s: 4th and sth calvers, £9 to £l4; older cows, £7 to £10; September calvers, £6 to £9; three-quarter cows, 3 15 s to £6 ss; springing heifers, line, £6 15s; sows to farrow, £4 to £6; pedigree boar, Tamworth, 3gns; mangolds, approx. £1 per ton. A quantity of sundries sold well. STORTFORD LODGE. Per Press Association. HASTINGS. July 23. Last week’s big rise of values for fat cattle at Stortford Lodge was maintained to-day for prime entries. Tho offering was much larger and the quality was superior to last week. Prime ox beef ranged from £l2 10s to £ls 2s. medium prime £ll to £ll 15s; extra prime heifers, £lO to £l2; prime heavy cows £lO to £ll 4s; lighter prime £8 to £9 10s. One draft of 32 cows and heifers averaged £l9 Is. Second quality and inferior sorts were down 20s on last week. In a email, yarding of store cattle the principal entries were fat and forward bullocks, which made from £9 to £9 11*3- Aberdeen Angus heifers in calf brought £7 6s. Ewe hoggets provided strong soiling, wellgrown lines showing an advance of 2s 6d. Entries generally were belter grown and more forward than late sale offerings, hat and forward wethers made the record price of 28e lid. A small yarding of fat sheep showed no change front last week, prime heavy wethers making 29s 6d.

Extra choice ox sold to 33s per 1001 b. choice and prime 20s to 325. unfinished 26s to 295; prime cow and heifer beef 27s to 295, unfinished 18s to 265; extra heavy prime steers £l3 7s 6d to £ls 17s 6d. licavy £l2 5s to £l4 7s 6d, medium £ll 5s to £l2 ss, light £9 5s to £lO 17s 6d, unfinished £7 to £9; extra heavy cows and heifers £9 to £l2, heavy £7 10s to £9 10s. medium £6 to £8 ss, light £5 to £7 ss. unfinished £2 10s to £4 15s. Values for wethers improved hv about 4s a head and ewes 2s a head. Extra heavy wethers made 40s to 445, heavy 37s to 39s 6d. medium 34s to'36s 9d, light. 32s to 335. unfinished 283 to 31s; extra heavy ewes 32s to 34s 9d. heavy 29s to 31s, medium 26s to 28s 9d. light 21s to 255, unfinished. 5s to 19s. ; . . An average yarding of lambs maintained late rates, prime sorts selling at 215.t0 34s 6d and unfinished 9s to 203 6d.. Runner calves made £3 to £7 3s; heavy venlers £4 15s to £6 3s, medium £4 to £5, light £3 12s to £4 Bs. smaller £2 12s to £3 14s, unfinished £1 10s to £2 18s; hobby and rough, 5s to 355. Store pigs were in better demand and values advanced. Choppers made £2 to £3 17s; heavy baeorters £4 7s to £4 19s, medium £3 18s to £4 4s. light £3 10s to £3 15s; heavy porkers £2 17s to £3 6s. medium £2 93 to £2 16s. light £2 to £2 Bs. small and unfinished £1 5s to £l 18s; stores £1 8s to £2 12s; slips, £1 Is to £1 Bs’; weaners, 10s to 20.3. Baconers averaged 7d per, lb and porkers 6Jd to 7d.

A yarding of 253 fat cattle at the_ Burnside stock sale to-day consisted mainly of poor quality sorts, only a few of good description being offered. Prime bullocks made to £l6 16s 6d. medium £ll 12s 6d to £l3 17s 6d, lighter down to £7 6s 6d: extra prime cows and heifers, to £ll 16s Gd; prime* to £lO 7s 6d; medium., £6 2s 6cl to £7 d2s 6d; light and unfinished,' £3 7s 6d to £5 12s 6d. _ ■ ■ In the store cattle section well-bred steers met with a ready sale, and good, fresh, empty voting cows were a'so eagerly sought.
