MARKET REPORT

PRODUCE AND POULTRY. The Dominion Auctioneering Co., Palmerston North, reports as follows: —Fruit and produce has been in the usual supply during tho past week and a good demand prevails in all lines. Poultry was in par tieularly good demand and all classes were sold at high prices. There was an excellent. demand for pigs and, though there was a fairly good entry, there was not nearly sufficient to supply the demand. All classes were keenly sought after and it was pleasing to note that best weaners realised over £1 each. We quote as follows : i

Fruit. —Hothouse tomatoes, from lOd to Is per lb; apples, Delicious from 6s -to 8s 6d per bushel, Ballarat? 7s to 9s, Stunners 5s 6d to 8s 6d, Granny Smith’s 7s to 9s, Doughortios 6s 6d to 7s 9d, Washington’s 6s 3d to 7s Id; pears, Winter Coles, 8s 6d to 12s per three-quarter case; cocking pears, from 7s to 9s per threequarter case; oranges, 21s to 25s per caso; lemons, from 18s to 26s per ease; parsnips, 7s 6d to 8s '6d per case; rhubarb, 8s to 10s 3d per doz; cauliflowers, best, from 8s to 13s per bag, seconds 3s to 5s 6d per bag; cabbage, from 6s to 8s 6d per sack; spinach, 2s to 2s 6d per doz.; pumpkins. 11s to 18s per sack; onions, ss. to 12s 6d per cental; marrows, 10s to 12s 6d per case; lettuce, 6s to 15s 3d per ease; kumcras, 7s to 18s 6d per bag; carrots, from 3s to 5s 7d per sugar bag; celery, from 15s to 20s per case; beetroot., Is to 2s per dozen; radishes, la to Is 3d per dozen. Poultry.—Heavy cockerels, from 8s to 10s 6d per pair; light breeds, 7s to 8s per pair; fat roosters, 6s lOd to 8s 6d per, pair; light roosters, 6s to 7s 6d per pair; Black Orpington bene, 7s lOd to 9s per pair; White Leghorn hens, best, 6s 6d to 7s lOd per pair; light hens, 6s per pair; ducks, 7s to 7s 6d per pair; pullets, from 4s to 5s each; geese, 3s 6d each; turkey gobblers, 8s each.
