TAIKOREA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TAIKOREA. July 29. A little very welcome rain has fallen recently, partly replenishing empty tanks and giving pasture growth extra encouragement. Calf lorries are daily gathering their loads, and before long the factory will be full swing once more. At present the staff are busy carrying out repairs, painting, cleaning the grounds, etc. On Monday the Taikorea School opened after a week’s holiday. The Glen Oroua ladies’ basketball team recently visited Taikorea, the latter team winning by 12 goals to 7. Mrs Graham refereed. On Wednesday the Bulls team played Taikorea, the teams being: Bulls, Misses V. McCabe, F. Field, M. Logan, H. Bromley, J. Button, Z. Neale, I. Wicks, N. Adin, M. Kearney (captain). Taikorea, Misses R. Mora, I. Cornwall, F. McDowall, 11. Cooksley, D. Sullivan, I. Hehir, T. Cooksley, B. Eichler (captain). Mrs Graham refereed. Taikorea were successful in the last match they will play this season, winning by 6 goals to 4. The euchre tournament was not quite as well attended as usual. Prizes were won by Miss Hill and Mr Bailey. Miss D. Whitmore is spending a holiday in Stratford. Mr and Mrs Bailev have been visiting Mr and Mrs Mora, Taikorea, and have now returned to the South Island.
