THOUSAND FIRST-YEAR WINNERS. In tho American Racing Manual it is stated that 10,757 horses started at recognised raco meetings in America last year, and according to other statistics 5785 horses were winners. Of these 519 wero two-year-old fillies, 525 two-year-old colls and geldings, 1797 wore fillies and mares over two years and 2839 wero horses or geldings over two years. The fact that there wore 1Q42 two-year-old winners shows tho extent to which horses of that ago arc catered for in America.
