SQUASH RACKETS.
The South Canterbury championship was played for at Timaru last weekend. The four semi-finalists were exactly the same as in the New Zealand championship played in the courts of the Palmerston North Squash Rackets Club last month. Dr. Fea, the New Zealand champion, easily beat Lewis, who won the handicap at the New Zealand meeting, and Renton beat Peter Hall--2 after a hard game. This left the two leading Timaru players in the final. The first two games were closely contested, each winning one, but then Renton had matters all his own way, and won the last two games 9 —l. 9 —o, beating the New Zealand champion 4 —l. Much the 6ame thing happened last year when Dr. Fea after winning the New Zealand championship was beaten for the South Canterbury title by Renton. The latter was favourite for the New Zealand championship last month, but was beaten by Dr. Fea somewhat easily in the semi-finals.
