WRESTLING

BLOMFIELD v. WESTCOATT. I he sport of wrestling is enjoying great popularity in tho Dominion at tho present time, largely because of tho high-class talent which the Dominion Union has to offer and it has been tho fortunate lot of the Palmerston North Association to have the services of a number of tho beat importations in the early stages of their tours, when they are frequently acen at their best. Another recent newcomer will bo in action hero next Wednesday night against Lofty” Blomfield in tho person of Norman ( ‘Rusty”) Wcscoatt. Tho latter is one _ of the latest additions to the Dominion Union’s forces, which include a judicious mixture of men who have established themselves firmly in tho public’6 favour, and others who aro anxious to win their way through to similar prominence. Wcscoatt has not been going long, but already he. ha 3 done sufficient to show that ho is going to bo one of tho big successes of the season, bis draw with McCready in his opening match being tho result of one of the finest displays tho Wanganui publio has seen. Wcscoatt has everything the modern wrestler requires. Ho is more than 6ft in height, weighs about 17 stone, and is immensely powerful. With these attributes ho is extremely fast and possesses a range of bolds that is liable to puzzle the best of opposition. Wescoatt, who lias held tho Hawaiian championship for several years in the face of strong competition from American wrestlers, is out to defeat the New Zealand champion and there will bo plenty of fireworks as these two big and aggressive young men dispute the matter between themselves. Blomfield, of course, is well-known to all local enthusiasts, who recognise that when ho is in tho ring there

is always a good match. Tho South African footballers aro invited, to soo this contest as guests of tho Palmerston North Wrestling Union, and as there will be quite a crowd of visitors staying over to sec the bout, the need for pre-booking is greater than usual. The box plan is now open at Collinson and Cunninghamc’s.
