OBITUARY.

MR AY. E. PRESNELL. . Though of a retiring disposition, the late Mr AVilliam Edwin Presnell, who passed away suddenly on July 23 following a very brief illness, was known to a large number throughout the city, more especially through his association for 17 years with the firm of Messrs AA r atson Brothers, Ltd., where he was storeman, meeting many people in the course of his duties. Mr Presnell’s pleasing personality found for him a large circle of acquaintanceships and the number of people attending his fuiferal was an indication of the high regard in which he was held. About 33 years ago Mr Presnell, who was 68 years of age, came to New Zealand from Tasmania, where he was born, and for some 12 years was engaged iii farming in the Makotuku district, Hawke’s Bay. Apart from his membership of the Masonic Order Mr Presnell took little part in activities outside his business duties and his home. Nine months ago Mrs Presnell passed away and since that time the late gentleman had resided with his only daughter, Mrs L. Prouse, also of Ngaio Street, there being no sons. The pallbearers from the residence were Messrs A. Coutts, A. Beattie, P. Griffin, A. Cresswell, R. Schnare, and O. Prouse. At the graveside the pall-bearers were Messrs C. F. A. AA'aters, L. G.. Sinclair, E. ,T. AVhitehouse, S. Wilson, C. H. McMillan, and T. P. Hart, of Lodge Huia. The Masonic service was conducted by Messrs AY. J. Robertson, A. A r . Pizzey, and A. R. McKegg. Rev. J.
