TALK CANCELLED.
CONDITIONS RESENTED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, July 31. As a result of the conditions imposed by the Government, the proposed broadcast talk from Station ]ZM to-morrow by the Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly (Rt. Rev. T. IT. Roseveare), under the auspices of the Crusade for Social Justice, has been cancelled. The Postmaster-General (Hon. F. Jones) stated in a telegram to the organisation that, pending a decision on the question of broadcast talks and debates, it was regretted that it was not possible to agree to a broadcast under the auspices of the crusade. However,, the Minister added, he would be pleased to allow the Moderator to speak provided his script was first submitted and approved by the station director. The organisers of. the crusade consider that such conditions would mean that the Moderator would have to speak in a purely independent way and that his address would be more or loss alienated from the body under whoso auspices it is planned. They have, therefore, decided to cancel the broadcast. The officials of the crusade consider that the fact that the leader of the Presbyterian Church should have to submit an address on Christian principles for approval is a violation of the fundamentals of the freedom of speech.
