FROZEN FORK.
EXTENSION OE TRADE. OPPORTUNITY FOR EXPORT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 30. Opportunity for farmers to extend New Zealand’s export trade in frozen pork is afforded by the latest agreement with the British Government. The Prime Minister (Tit. Hon. M. J. Savage) stated to-night that a. cable message had been received from the High Commissioner (Mr \V. J. Jordan) in London advising that the British Ministry of Agriculture had confirmed an allocation of 10,000 tons of New Zealand porkers for 1937, as first arranged in March last in the discussions between the Minister of Marketing (Hon. Walter Nash) and representatives of the United Kingdom Government. “In connection with our export of frozen porkers and baeoners to Great Britain, it is very gratifying that the British Government views favourably the expansion from New Zeala.nd,” said the Prime Minister. “This has been evidenced by the fact that liberal allocations, when asked for, have been agreed to. For instance, the export of porkers last year amounted to 13,400 tons, and for this year the allocation of 16.000 tons ha.s been arranged. “As far as baeoners are concerned, the tonnage shipped last year was 16.500 tons, but-as regards the quantities for this year and future years, the allocation is more likely to be based oil the tonnage that it is possible to ship rather than there being any idea of limitation. “The new arrangement for frozen porkers is very satisfactory. As the pig industry is an integral and important feature of the dairy industry and capable of extensive expansion, an assured overseas market to enable progressive development is of the very greatest value.” '
