BOWLING.

OROUA CLUB. 4 Mr C. Hausmann (president) presided over the annual meeting of the Oroua Bowling Club on Saturday evening. There xvas a fair attendance

and the annual report (previously published) and the balance-sheet, which revealed a satisfactory position in regard to the finances, were adopted.

Speaking to the report Mr Hausmann expressed regret that the club had suffered the loss of a prominent bowler, Mr E. Hicks, who was leaving the district after many years’ service to the club. The speaker said that Mr Hicks had frequently represented the club with success at tournaments afield. It was decided to place on record the club’s appreciation of the lengthy service rendered by Mr Hicks.

The election of officers resulted: —- President, Mr C. Hausmann (reelected); vice-president, Mr G. Buckman ; committee, Messrs T. Pagan, ,J. P. Petrie, S. D. Pearce, C. B. Aitken, B. W. Law, W. McPhail, W. Nottle, H. Smithers, and E. R. Bridge; hon. auditor, Mr A. H. Maguire; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr G. W. Sbrimpton (re-elected). Mr Hausmann intimated that Veil. Archdeacon F. H. Petrio and Mr D. Entwisle had not sought re-election oil the committtee, and he had pleasure in moving a resolution that the club place on record its appreciation of their services. Both gentlemen, he said, had been pioneer members of the club and their enthusiasm had been instrumental in popularising the club. The motion was carried with enthusiasm. The president, in handing over the Pearce Challenge Cup to Mr H. E. Guthrie, congratulated him upon his success in winning the handsome trophy. A motion of sympathy with Mr T. Oakley, of Wellington Street, in the loss of liis wife was carried in silence.
