GATES—HANNAH. i A pretty wedding was solemnised at St. 'Augustine’a Cnurch, Napier, recently, when Margaret Evelyn, only daughter oi the late Mr T. A. Hannah, of Napier, was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to George Alexander, eldest son of'Mr and Mrs R. Gates, Oroua Downs. Rev. Mr Gardiner performed the ceremony a.nd Mr E. C. J.amieson presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr J. A. Hannah, made a charming picture in her bridal frock of magnolia silk velvet, beautifully cut, the bodice having a softly cowled neckline finished with clusters of orange blossom on either shoulder. The sleeves were fully puffed to the elbow and then fitted tightly to the wrist with the peak over the hands. Tire skirt was slim-fitting to the knees, with a. lapped flounce in front, and finished at the back with an oval train. A wide velvet sash defined the waistline. She wore a beautiful embroidered tulle veil, which was arranged from a halo of plaited velvet and orange blossom buds. She wore gold shoes, and her sheaf of winter roses, golden chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern completed a charming ensemble.
Miss Alvis Bartle attended the bride as bridesmaid and was frocked in blue taffetas, the bodice being tight fitting with puffed sleeves and a double quilted collar fastened at the back to l>elow the waist with small covered buttons and loops. The skirt was fully flared, with wide quilting at the hemline. Her picture hat was of blue tulle, the crown being entirely composed of flowers shading from pink to red. A posy of the same shaded flowers adorned the neckline of her frock. She wore red sandals and carried a beautiful sheaf of pink carnations and maidenhair fern.
Miss May Hannah, niece of the bride, made a charming flower girl dressed in a frock of pale pink stiffened net over pink taffetas. The bodice was made with puffed sleeves, the neck and sleeves being finished with stitched frills. The skirt, which was very full, was 'made with three stitched frills at the hemline. The waist was finished with a sash of blue velvet ribbon and on her hair was a. halo of blue flowers and silver leaves. She wore pale pink stockings and blue kid shoes, and carried a muff of pink frilled net completed with a posy of blue flowers. The duties of best man were ably carried out by Mr C. Gates. The bride was presented with a gold horseshoe for good luck by the flower girl. A reception was held after the ceremony, where the decorations were of similar tones to the bridal party. Mrs Gates, mother of the bridegroom, wore a stylish wino frock, and her bouquet was of carnations and autumn foliage. When the happy couple left on their honeymoon m the South Island, the bride was dressed in a smart frock of 'flecked tweed, with brown coa.t and small velvet hat with eye veil and accessaries to tone. Mr and Mrs Gates, who will make their home in Dannevirke, were the recipients of many useful and valuable presents.
