AMBERGRIS WORTH £6OO. A lump of ambergris worth £6OO has been found in a 55ft. sperm whale caught' in Cape waters. It is .the largest piece of ambergris to be found in those waters for more than 10 years, according to the statements in Capetown. The catch was made by the whaler Tygerberg. Her Norwegian master, Captain Pihl, stated that he had never before seen such a big piece of the precious ambergris. The whale was sighted 70 miles out from Galdanha Bay. The whalers gave chase and shot two harpoons into it and then hove it to, dead. They towed it to Donlcerget, the whaling station, where they cut it up and found inside the ambergris, weighing 351 b.
