FAMILY ALLOWANCE.
EMPLOYMENT TAXATION. HASTINGS SUGGESTION. Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Aug. 2. That reeojiunendations be made to the Government for a family allowance to be made in the employment emergency taxation, was a motion which was carried by the provincial executive of the Hawke’s Bay branch of the Farmers’ Union. The opinion was expressed that while there was a need for increasing population, the unemployment tax was a penalty on the man who had a family. Any reduction in unemployment taxation would be well worth while if it provided an inducement towards bigger families. -
