MINERS’ CLAIMS.
NEW SOUTH WALES NEGOTIATIONS.
SYDNEY, Aug. 3. The conference between the coal mine proprietors and the miners was adjourned until Tuesday next to enable tho owners to consult individual proprietors upon the wage proposals of the miners’ delegates. These include the restoration of 10 per cent, of the 12} per cent, wage cut imposed in 1930 and an increase of 5 per cent, in the wagete of “off hands.” The Miners’ Council meets to-mor-row to decide whether the sectional strike now in operation at Broken Hill and other pits shall be discontinued pending the outcome of the present negotiations. It is reliably reported that the Miners’ Council will also complete a plan for a general strike in the event of a collapse of the negotiations.
GAS STRIKE ENDED,
ADELAIDE, Aug. 3.
The stay-in-strike by employees of the South Australian Gas Company ended with a compromise on the increase in wages demanded by the men, who are now back at work.
